Cars and the reception area at the Bangladesh Television (BTV) building in Rampura, Dhaka, were set on fire during the ongoing ‍‍`shutdown‍‍` organized by quota reform protesters.

Fire Service vehicles were dispatched to the scene, but they were unable to reach BTV due to road blockades set up by protesters, according to Ariful Islam, senior station officer at Khilgaon Fire Station.

"We have been on the road since 3 pm, but have not been able to access BTV. There are intense clashes. We requested police assistance for security, but did not receive it. Our vehicles turned back around 4:30 pm," Islam stated.

"They suddenly stormed into the building," said BTV Chief Engineer Masud Bhuiyan. "They vandalized cars and motorcycles in the parking lot and set them on fire. They also set fire to the reception area. We called the Fire Service, but they have not arrived yet."

Meanwhile, a Facebook post from BTV‍‍`s verified page urgently called for the Fire Service to respond promptly as the fire spreading rapidly.
