Azmat Ullah Khan, a candidate for mayor from the Awami League, expressed confidence that he would win in the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) election on Thursday.
“If the Almighty wills, I will win and take over as mayor,” he said.
The Awami League politician made the proclamation on Thursday morning after casting his ballot at Tongi Darus Salam Madrasa.
He acknowledged his pleasure with the setting and conduct of the election.
At 8 a.m. on Thursday, voting for 57 wards of the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) began.
Electronic voting machines (EVM) are being used at 480 locations until 4 p.m. to conduct the vote.
In Gazipur city, where there are 11,79,000 registered voters, an election is being held for the third time on Thursday.
