Govt allocates Tk 500 crore for loans to returning expatriate workers

The government has allocated Tk 500 crore to facilitate easy loans for returning expatriate workers through Probashi Kalyan Bank.

Until March of the current fiscal year, a total of 12,89,000 loan recipients have been provided with Tk 2,936.5 crore in loans from this fund.

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali mentioned this during his budget speech on Thursday (June 6). He stated, "In the fiscal year 2024-25, alongside the existing 104 Technical Training Centers (TTCs), an additional 50 TTCs have been established. Furthermore, through the Driving Training Project for employment both domestically and abroad, a total of 1,02,400 individuals have remained engaged in driving training programs over the past 5 years."

From 2010 to February 2024, a total of 2,85,000 distressed and ill migrant workers have received financial assistance amounting to Tk 19,624,000.

Moreover, from February 2009 to February 2024, a total of Tk 1,436,760,000 has been allocated as financial aid for the families of deceased migrant workers who legally migrated abroad.
