ACC issues red alert against Sheikh Hasina and Sajeeb Wazed Joy

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a red alert against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy over allegations related to plot fraud during the student-led uprising.

On Thursday, ACC investigation officers sent a letter to the police headquarters, stating that measures are being taken to locate the accused, bring them back to the country, and ensure they are brought under the law for justice. A senior ACC official confirmed the development to the press.

According to ACC sources, the accused, including Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and Rehana’s daughter Tulip Siddiq, allegedly engaged in irregularities and illegal transactions during plot allocations and approvals under various projects of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), causing financial losses to state resources.

The accusations include violating conflict-of-interest rules and misuse of government property.

Meanwhile, the court is continuing the third day of hearings in the plot fraud cases. Testimonies are being recorded in three separate cases, questioning the accused linked to Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, and other family members.

The ACC filed six cases on January 12, 13, and 14, accusing 28 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, of irregularities in allocating a total of 60 plots, with 10 plots assigned under their names and those of relatives.

On March 25, the commission submitted the charge sheets, listing Sheikh Hasina and 27 others as fugitives.
