Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur has sustained severe injuries, including fractures to his head, nose, and jaw, along with internal bleeding in the head, doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) confirmed on Saturday morning.
According to Dr. Mostak Ahmed, residential surgeon of DMCH’s emergency department, Nur was brought to the hospital around 11:20 pm on Friday night in a bloodied state with nasal bandages already applied. He was immediately shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the hospital’s fourth floor.
Initial tests were conducted overnight, followed by a CT scan on Saturday morning, which revealed fractures to his skull, nasal bone, and right jaw. Doctors also detected minor intracranial bleeding. His eyes and face remain swollen, with visible blood accumulation in the eyes, though no other external injuries were found.
A medical board comprising specialists from neurosurgery, ENT, ophthalmology, and casualty departments examined him in the morning. The board has so far indicated that surgery may not be required, but stated that it is still too early to declare Nur out of danger.
The medical board is scheduled to meet later today to determine the next course of treatment.
