The nationalist student organization Chhatra Dal has officially announced its panel for the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) elections.
Sheikh Saadi Hasan has been nominated as the panel’s Vice President (VP) candidate, while Tanzila Hossain Boishakhi will contest the position of General Secretary (GS).
The announcement was made on Thursday at the “Adommo Chabbish” memorial ground on campus by Chhatra Dal’s senior vice president Abu Afsan Mohammad Yahia. After the panel declaration, the candidates paid floral tributes at the memorial.
Other key nominations include Sazzadul Islam for Joint General Secretary (Male), Anjuman Ara Ikra for Joint General Secretary (Female), Yamin Howlader as Education and Research Secretary, and Likhan Chandra Roy as Environment and Nature Conservation Secretary.
Zahid Hasan Khan has been nominated as Literature and Publication Secretary, Md. Abidur Rahman as Cultural Secretary, Md. Parvez Hasan Nishan as Joint Cultural Secretary, Md. Aminul Islam as Drama Secretary, and Md. Zaber Hasan as Information Technology and Library Secretary.
For Social Service and Human Resource Development, Md. Tawhidur Rahman Khan will contest as Secretary, with Shakil Sardar and Kazi Mousumi Afroze as Joint Secretaries (Male and Female, respectively). Sports Secretary is Ujjal Hasan, with Ruhul Amin Sweet and Md. Shahnaz Parvin Shanu as Joint Sports Secretaries. Zaherul Islam has been nominated as Transport and Communication Secretary, and Md. Mominul Islam as Health and Food Security Secretary.
The panel also includes Executive Members: Hamidullah Salman, Mehedi Hasan, A.M. Rafidullah (Male) and Sumaiya Sultana Shia, Happy Akter Shila, Shaila Sabreen Nijhum (Female).
The panel features seven female candidates and one candidate from the Hindu community among the top positions. Abu Afsan Mohammad Yahia highlighted, “The participation of female students during the July uprising at Jahangirnagar University was remarkable. To ensure equal representation of men and women, our panel includes female candidates not only in top positions but across other key roles.”
