Chhatra Dal panel unveils first manifesto for DUCSU elections

The Chhatra Dal-backed panel has formally announced its manifesto for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, becoming the first group to do so.

On Thursday (28 August), at a press conference held under the Bot-tola area of the university campus, the panel’s vice-presidential candidate Abidul Islam Khan read out the written manifesto.

The panel outlined a total of 10 key pledges, focusing on campus development, student welfare, and institutional reforms. The main points include:

Prioritizing education and research while creating a modern, enjoyable, livable, and safe campus environment.

Ensuring a secure campus for female students, safeguarding women’s health, and enhancing their capabilities.

Providing quality healthcare services and health insurance for students, and facilitating access and mobility for students with special needs.

Modernizing the curriculum, infrastructure, and examination systems, along with improving research standards.

Streamlining transportation, introducing battery-operated shuttle services, and easing campus commuting.

Delivering harassment-free administrative services, access to student loans, and campus-based employment opportunities.

Engaging youth in constructive activities while promoting sports and cultural programs.

Enhancing digital facilities, cybersecurity, and measures to prevent cyberbullying.

Implementing waste management, environmental protection, greening initiatives, and creating a student- and animal-friendly campus.

Strengthening an effective DUCSU and increasing Dhaka University’s presence on international platforms.

The panel aims to position itself as a reform-driven platform addressing academic, administrative, and social aspects of campus life.
