Salahuddin Ahmed, a senior member of the BNP Standing Committee, recently suggested that protests might be necessary to push the interim government onto the right path.

He made these comments during a discussion at the National Press Club on Wednesday, January 29.

Speaking about the Awami League, he criticized the ruling party for not taking any visible steps toward justice, labeling them as a "fascist" party.

He said that the BNP may need to take to the streets to ensure the government makes the right decisions, and promised that the party would take action to guide the government in the right direction.

Salahuddin Ahmed also called for national elections to be held on August 5, stating that it would be up to the people to decide whether the Awami League is capable of holding the election.

He demanded that the government provide a clear explanation to the public if the election is delayed.
