BNP's repeated calls for restoring the caretaker government system and holding the next general polls under it is unconstitutional, unreasonable and nonpolitical, said the law minister.
"The apex court of the country has scrapped the concept of caretaker government and therefore, there is no provision of this system in the constitution. How can BNP demand for an unconstitutional system," Anisul Huq said.
He was talking to reporters at his ministry office in the secretariat on Sunday, brushing aside any chance of bringing change in the constitution as no election was held in the country like that of controversial Magura or Mirpur elections.
All should raise voice against the unconstitutional and illogical demand of BNP, he added.
The government in June 2011 abolished the caretaker government system allowing general elections under elected partisan governments.
