Shahiduzzaman Selim elected president of Directors Guild, Faridul Hasan becomes Secretary-General

Shahiduzzaman Selim has been elected as the new president of the Directors Guild, an organization for TV directors, after defeating Salahuddin Lavlu in the election. 

The result was declared by the Election Commission at 8:30 PM on Saturday, February 22.

Shahiduzzaman Selim, who received 271 votes, will now take over the role of president for the next two years, leading the guild and overseeing the activities of directors in the country.

In the race for General Secretary, Faridul Hasan emerged victorious with 222 votes. 

Meanwhile, three Vice Presidents were elected: Rasheda Akter Lajuk, Firoz Khan, and Shokal Ahmed. 

Lajuk received the most votes with 289, followed by Firoz Khan with 274 votes, and Shokal Ahmed with 213 votes.

For the position of Joint General Secretary, Tuhin Hossain and Din Mohammad were elected with 256 and 240 votes, respectively.

Moniruzzaman Lipon was chosen as the Organizational Secretary after securing 226 votes, while Abu Raihan won the role of Finance Secretary with 253 votes. 

The role of Public Relations and Publication Secretary went to Nazmul, who earned 253 votes.

In the election for Training and Archive Secretary, Gazi Apple Mahmud claimed the position with 268 votes. 

For the role of Information and Technology Secretary, Sanjoy Barua received 223 votes. 

Preeti Dutt was elected as the Law and Welfare Secretary with 221 votes. 

Lastly, Saeed Rahman was elected as the Office Secretary, receiving the highest number of votes among all candidates – 295.

When it came to the Executive Members, Sagar Jahan received the most votes with 284. 

Chayanika Chowdhury came in second place with 269 votes. Other successful candidates for Executive Members include Mahmud Niyaz Chandrodip (264 votes), Geetali Hasan (239 votes), Litu Karim (228 votes), Shihab Shaheen (228 votes), and Hasan Rezaul (223 votes).

Following the announcement of the results, Shahiduzzaman Selim expressed his happiness, stating, “I am extremely happy. The voters have chosen the most deserving candidates. This election has been one of the most harmonious in the history of the Directors Guild. Out of the 21 winners, we will continue the guild‍‍`s work together with those who contested but were not successful.”

The election was conducted under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner actor Naresh Bhuiyan, with film director Abdus Samad and scriptwriter Masum Reza serving as election commissioners.
