The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the postponement of Tuesday’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) matches to observe national mourning following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
The matches originally scheduled for Tuesday—Sylhet Titans vs Chattogram Royals and Dhaka Capitals vs Rangpur Riders—will be rescheduled, with new dates to be announced later, the BCB confirmed.
In a condolence message, the board paid tribute to Khaleda Zia’s contributions to Bangladeshi cricket, noting her efforts in enhancing infrastructure and promoting the sport during her tenure as prime minister. The BCB also offered prayers for her soul and extended heartfelt sympathies to her grieving family.
Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the age of 80.
