In observance of the anniversary of the July Mass Uprising, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced plans to honor the families of journalists who lost their lives during the movement.
The initiative will include the presentation of honorary awards, financial grants, and special gifts.
The decision was finalized in a recent meeting chaired by Information Secretary Mahbuba Farzana.
According to an official statement released on Sunday, the ministry has lined up a series of commemorative events and nationwide campaigns to mark the significance of the uprising.
One of the key highlights will be the premiere screening of the film "Shrabon Bidroho"—a cinematic depiction of the July Uprising—scheduled for July 5 at the National Museum.
The film will also be screened at Bangladeshi missions abroad and in selected locations across the country.
Additional events include the screening of documentaries and films on the uprising by the Department of Mass Communication, Bangladesh Film Archive, and four universities in Dhaka.
An international seminar focusing on the historical importance of the movement is also planned.
From July 1 to August 5, special features, articles, and supplements highlighting the uprising will be published in various newspapers.
The ministry also plans to install banners and billboards, distribute posters, festoons, and photocards, and organize a publication festival. Exhibitions featuring photographs and graffiti related to the uprising will also be arranged.
Commemorative activities such as colorful rallies, Qur’an recitations, prayer gatherings, and discussion events will be held, with participation from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and its affiliated agencies.
