Police have submitted charge sheets in 26 cases filed across the country in connection with the anti-discrimination student and public uprising in July.
Among these, eight are murder cases, while the remaining 18 pertain to other charges. The information was confirmed by the Police Headquarters on Thursday afternoon.
According to police sources, the eight murder cases were registered under the jurisdictions of Sherpur, Feni, Chandpur, Comilla, and Kurigram districts, as well as the Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
The remaining 18 cases, registered under other sections, fall under the jurisdictions of Bogura, Chapainawabganj, Sirajganj, Pabna, and Jamalpur districts, as well as the Dhaka, Barishal, and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
A total of 1,153 individuals have been named as accused in the murder cases, while 682 are accused in the other cases.
Police stated that senior officials are regularly monitoring the investigations to ensure accuracy and impartiality.
Authorities also emphasized that investigations in the remaining cases are being expedited to bring the accused to justice.
