14 senior police officers dismissed for prolonged absence from duty

Fourteen senior officials of the Bangladesh Police have been dismissed due to prolonged absence from their posts.

The decision was announced through a separate government notification issued on Sunday by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Public Security Division. The notification, signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Ghani on June 26, revealed this information.

According to the notification, the dismissals were made under Rule 3(g) and Rule 12(1) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, citing the officers’ alleged “offense of desertion.”

The officials have been placed under temporary dismissal, during which they will still receive subsistence allowance. The order was issued in the public interest.

Among the dismissed officers, there are three Police Superintendents, eight Additional Police Superintendents, and three Assistant Police Superintendents.

The dismissed Police Superintendents are former Narayanganj Police Superintendent Golam Mostafa Russell, former Rangpur District Police Superintendent Md. Shahjahan, and former Dhaka Police Superintendent ATU Mohammad Chanowar Hossain.

The Additional Police Superintendents include: Masudur Rahman Monir, Acting Company Commander of RAB-8’s CPCSI; former Deputy Commissioner of DMP SM Shamim; Rubaiyat Jaman of Sunamganj In-Service Training Center; Hasanuzzaman Molla of the Rangamati DIG APBN Office (Hill Districts); Iftikharul Islam of Cox’s Bazar 16 APBN; Akhtarul Islam of Sylhet In-Service Training Center; SM Jahangir Hasan of Tangail Naval Police; and Mishu Biswas of Jamalpur In-Service Training Center.

The dismissed Assistant Police Superintendents are Mohammad Imrul of Ukhia 8 APBN, Mahmudul Hasan, Telecom Officer of Rajarbagh Police Telecom, and Al Imran Hossain, Assistant Police Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
