Students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have blocked the railway line in protest to press for their demands, disrupting train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route.
The demonstration began on Sunday (31 August) at 11:00 am at the Jobbar Mor area of BAU, where students occupied the tracks, halting train operations.
Protesting students from the Faculty of Agriculture have demanded that all research institutions, including BADC, keep the 10th grade open for agricultural scientists, and that promotions to the 9th grade should not be granted without proper appointments.
They also insist that only graduates can use the title “Agriculturist” before their names.
The students have urged immediate implementation of their demands and warned that more stringent protest measures will follow if their demands are not met.
