Sara Tendulkar has revealed that her brother Arjun Tendulkar’s recent marriage made her think more seriously about the kind of wedding she would want for herself.
In an interview with Vogue, Sara said the experience helped her understand which wedding traditions and details appeal to her and which ones do not.
“I feel like that was a great trial round for me. Now I know what I want and what I don’t want,” she said.
Sara said she once imagined having a big, lavish wedding and pictured herself as a bride in pastel colours.
Her preferences have changed over time, and she now finds the idea of a smaller, more intimate celebration more appealing.
She also said she might choose a traditional red bridal outfit, although she joked that she could still change her mind.
“I’m a Libra, very indecisive. Who knows? Maybe I’ll go with green,” she said.
Sara also shared her thoughts on relationships and marriage, saying she believes many Gen Z couples are more willing to leave relationships that no longer feel right.
She said some people may realise during an engagement, or even before the wedding, that they cannot continue with their partner or adjust to their partner’s family.
In such cases, she believes ending the relationship before marriage can be a good decision.
Sara also spoke warmly about her parents, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and Anjali Tendulkar, who married in 1995.
She said their friendship and sense of humour are qualities she would like to have in her own future relationship.
“My parents are very good friends before anything else. They have this really fun banter at home, and that’s definitely something I would want in my future partner,” she said.
Sara also admired how her parents maintained their relationship during periods of long distance, noting that communication was much harder before smartphones and apps such as WhatsApp and FaceTime became common.
Asked whether she sees love and friendship as closely connected, Sara agreed.
She said she likes to believe romantic soulmates exist, but considers her closest friends to be her soulmates.
Sara, the elder child of Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar, was born in Mumbai on October 12, 1997.
