The July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum has officially opened to the public. Although visitor entry on the first day was scheduled to begin at 11:00 am on Thursday, many people were seen lining up as early as 9:00 am.
To manage visitor flow, the museum has introduced a timed entry system. Initially, a maximum of 900 visitors per day will be allowed to enter the museum`s main building.
Museum authorities said tickets are available through both an online booking system and the museum`s ticket counter. All 900 tickets allocated for the opening day were sold out a day earlier.
The main building will be open in three daily time slots, each accommodating up to 300 visitors. The morning slot runs from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, the midday slot from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and the evening slot from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Authorities said visitors will only be allowed to enter the main building during the time slot printed on their tickets.
The museum commemorates the July–August 2024 mass uprising that led to the fall of the former government. On August 5, 2024, then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh amid the student-led mass movement. Three days later, on August 8, an interim government headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus was sworn in. The museum was later established at Ganabhaban by the interim government to preserve artifacts and memories of the July uprising.
