4 more die of dengue, 568 hospitalized in 24 hours

Dengue claimed four more lives in the last 24 hours, while 568 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With these latest figures, the death toll from dengue this year has risen to 122, while the total number of hospitalizations stands at 31,476.

The DGHS’s Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room confirmed the information in a press release issued on Sunday (31 August).

Of the new admissions in the last 24 hours, 110 patients were in Barishal division, 93 in Chattogram, 114 in Dhaka division, 67 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 82 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 42 in Khulna, 16 in Mymensingh, 39 in Rajshahi, and 3 in Sylhet.

Monthly data from DGHS shows dengue hospitalizations this year were: 1,161 in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, 10,684 in July, and 10,496 so far in August.

As for fatalities, 10 deaths were reported in January, three in February, seven in April, three in May, 19 in June, 41 in July, and 39 so far in August.
