A total of 471 candidates have been confirmed to contest in the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election.
Out of 509 initial applicants, 28 withdrew their candidacy while 10 others did not pursue appeals after rejection.
The final list of candidates was published on Tuesday at the university’s Senate Building.
According to the announcement, 45 candidates will compete for the Vice President (VP) post, 19 for the General Secretary (GS) post, 25 for Assistant General Secretary (AGS), 17 for Liberation War and Democratic Movement Affairs Secretary, and 12 for Science and Technology Secretary.
Earlier, nomination papers were distributed between August 12 and 19, with submissions closing on August 20.
This year, a total of 28 posts are up for election in the central body, including Vice President, General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Liberation War and Democratic Movement Affairs Secretary, Science and Technology Secretary, Common Room Secretary, Reading Room and Cafeteria Secretary, International Affairs Secretary, Literature and Cultural Affairs Secretary, Sports Secretary, Student Transport Secretary, Social Services Secretary, Research and Publication Secretary, Career Development Secretary, Health and Environment Secretary, Human Rights and Legal Affairs Secretary, along with 13 executive member positions.
