There are 26.3 lakh people who do not have jobs in the country while more than 7.34 crore people are working as labour force, according to "Labour Force Survey 2022 of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) revealed on Wednesday.
Men make up 4.74 crore of the labor force, women 2.59 crore, and among the unemployed, males make up 16.9 lakh and women 9.4 lakh.
The figures came as the BBS organised a discussion meeting at Statistics Bhaban in Agargaon where Planning Minister MA Mannan was present as the chief guest.
The International Labor Organization (ILO) defines the jobless population as people who do not have the opportunity to work even one hour in a week.
Previously the unemployment rate was 4.2 % but now it has come down to 3.6 %.
The BBS made the information public based on the Housing Census-2022, which gathered data from 1284 primary record locations across the nation.
