Four of a family, including two children, suffered burn injuries as a fire broke out in a tin-shed house due to a cooking gas cylinder blast at Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj on Saturday.
The victims of the blast are – Md Jahid Hossain, his wife Ruma Akter, daughter Laboni and son Yeasin.
Abul Kashem, a neighbor of the family, said a huge explosion was heard from the house around 6:00am. It may occur due to the leakage of the gas cylinder in the morning.
Later, locals rescued the injured and sent to Sheikh Hasina national burn and plastic surgery unit.
Resident surgeon of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Dr. SM Ayub Hossain said that four people including children came from Narayanganj in the morning. Among them, Zahid received 29 per cent burns, Ruma received 23 per cent burns, Labni received 22 per cent burns and Yasin received 10 percent burns.
They are being given treatment at the emergency departmet of the hospital, added he.
The victim family hails from Bhulta area of Gauchia in Rupganj. Ruma works as a housemaid while her husband is a job holder.
