5 more die of dengue; 1139 hospitalised in 24 hours

Dengue continues to worsen across the country as five more patients died in the last 24 hours. During this period, 1,139 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide.

The information was confirmed in a press release issued on Sunday (16 November) by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the report, among the newly admitted patients, 181 are from Barishal division (outside the city corporation), 141 from Chattogram division, 246 from Dhaka division (outside the city corporation), 182 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 118 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 119 from Khulna division, 96 from Mymensingh division, 46 from Rajshahi division, 9 from Rangpur division and 1 from Sylhet division.

During the same period, 1,199 patients were discharged from hospitals. So far this year, a total of 81,442 dengue patients have recovered and returned home.

As of 16 November, the total number of dengue cases stands at 84,997, of whom 62.4 percent are male and 37.6 percent female. With the latest deaths, the total dengue death toll this year has reached 336.
