People travelling to India will no longer need to get an RT-PCR test done 72 hours before their departure, said Md Raju Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Benapole Police Immigration on Saturday.
According to the Benapole Immigration sources, passengers who have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and taken the booster dose will no longer need to undergo the test.
But passengers must show an RT-PCR Covid-19 test certificate, conducted 72 hours before, when they return from India.
Debul Kumar, an India returnee, said that if a booster dose was given to a Bangladeshi on his way to India, the negative test certificate would not be required. “On my return, I had to show the certificate at the Indian Immigration as before.”
If the same rules were followed in both the countries then travellers would be able to avoid the extra cost, he added.
Dr Zahidur Rahman, working in the Benapole Immigration Health Department, said that both Indian and Bangladeshi travellers will need to carry the 72-hour RT-PCR test certificate while coming from India.
