ACC launches investigation into senior journalist Nayeemul Islam Khan’s wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into senior journalist Nayeemul Islam Khan over allegations of acquiring wealth through illegal means. 

The decision to begin the probe was made during a meeting held by the commission on Tuesday morning.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) had discovered a staggering 163 bank accounts tied to Nayeemul Islam Khan and his family.

This raised concerns about possible financial misconduct.

According to the ACC, officials suspect that Khan might have been involved in transferring money overseas, prompting them to initiate a thorough investigation. 

Following an initial review, the commission believes that the investigation will uncover a significant amount of assets connected to Khan and his family.

This move has attracted attention, as Khan has long been a prominent figure in the media industry and the government’s former press secretary.
