The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sent a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting the removal of Saima Wazed Putul, the daughter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, from her position as the WHO Regional Director.
The letter was sent on Sunday, January 19.
This move follows the ACC`s decision on January 15 to look into claims of corruption in the appointment of Saima Wazed to the prestigious position.
The ACC alleges that her appointment was not based on merit, but rather on political influence.
Speaking about the issue, Md. Akhtar Hossain, Director-General of Prevention at the ACC, said that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina misused her power to get her daughter appointed to the WHO position, even though she lacked the qualifications required for the role.
After reviewing initial information, the ACC decided to investigate further.
This development has raised eyebrows, with many wondering about the potential fallout of the investigation and its impact on international organizations and politics.
