Sheikh Mohammad Nahid Islam, the newly appointed Advisor for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, has promised students of Jagannath University (JU) that the military will take over the construction of their new campus within three days.

He made this promise during a meeting with students who were protesting outside the Secretariat on Monday, November 11.

The students, who had gathered in front of the Education Ministry, were demanding that the construction of the second campus be handed over to the military, as well as other important changes. Over 2,000 JU students participated in the demonstration, marching to the Secretariat and later sitting in front of the Ministry building.

They chanted slogans like "We are JUBians," "No compromise, only struggle," and "Rights, not injustice."

In the afternoon, Sheikh Nahid Islam came out to meet with the students.

He assured them that their request would be met and that the military would take control of the campus project within three days.

He also acknowledged that the students’ demands were fair and said the government would do everything it could to fulfill them.

The students‍‍` demands included:

1. Removing the corrupt project director appointed during the previous government and replacing him with a qualified military officer within the next seven days.

2. An official announcement from the Ministry of Education confirming that the construction of the second campus is now under military control, with a clear plan for how the project will proceed, including priority given to building student dormitories.

3. Immediate steps to acquire the remaining 11 acres of land needed for the new campus.

4. The cancellation of any illegal agreements made during the previous regime about the old campus.

The students left the meeting feeling hopeful that their concerns were being taken seriously and that positive changes would come soon.
