Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary for the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, assured that the government would track down all secret detention cells, known as "Aayna Ghor," across Bangladesh.

He revealed that there are between 700 and 800 such centers in the country.

According to a report by the United Nations, these operations were carried out under the direct orders of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The remarks came during a press conference on Wednesday at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital, Dhaka.

The conference was organized by the Press Wing of the Interim Government‍‍`s Chief Adviser, Muhammad Yunus.

Shafiqul Alam added that the government would take action against any individuals from special forces who, despite having arrest warrants against them, are yet to be arrested.

"Based on the findings of the Enforced Disappearances Commission, those individuals will face action when the time is right," he said.

He also made it clear that the government would bring to justice those from the Awami League involved in the forced disappearances and killings.

"The UN investigation report has identified who gave the orders for these actions. No one will be free from accountability. Sheikh Hasina is in charge, and it was under her instructions that these events took place," he emphasized.

Shafiqul Alam also praised the government‍‍`s efforts, claiming,

“In just six months, the government has achieved significant progress in addressing the issues of forced disappearances and killings, which is a major success for the government.”

Azad Majumdar, the Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, also addressed the media, stating that the government would carefully examine the United Nations’ recommendations and explore ways to implement them.

Regarding the Chief Adviser‍‍`s upcoming visit to the United Arab Emirates, Azad Majumdar shared that he would be leaving today for a two-day trip, returning on Friday.

He explained that the visit would involve discussions on matters of mutual interest between the governments and the leadership of the UAE.
