Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor M Atiqul Islam has gave instructions to the authorities concerned to clean all drains under the city corporation by March 15, reports BSS.
"DNCC's all the drains under our city corporation must have to clean by March 15 " he told a meeting on water logging held in the hall room of Gulshan-2 Nagar Bhaban, said a press release on Monday.
"A total of 10 rapid action teams will be formed for the 10 regions of the DNCC, which would take effective measures to solve the problems in the region as soon as possible," he said.
He said 42 dead spots have been identified for the rescue of canals under the DNCC, where earlier there were canals but now there are no more.
Therefore, rescue and cleaning activities of the canals will continue with the help of the people, he added.
"DNCC is working diligently with short, medium and long term plans to control water logging and pollution in the city," said the mayor.
Dhaka city should be made a liveable, healthy, vibrant and modern city by making it pollution-free and free of illegal land grabbing. DNCC's Chief Executive Officer Md Selim Reza, Chief Engineer Brig Gen Muhammad Amirul Islam, Chief Waste Management Officer, Commodore SM Sharif-ul Islam, and Chief Property Officer Md Mozammel Haque were present at the discussion, among others.
