Police have arrested an auto-rickshaw driver in a case filed over the “rape” of a passenger at Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat.
The accused, Mahmudul Hasan Rocky, 24, of Ghanshyampur village of the upazila was arrested early Monday (April 11, 2022) from the C&B Bazar area.
Fakirhat Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge M Alimuzzaman confirmed the news.
Earlier, the victim file the case last night accusing Mahmudul.
Quoting the victim, the OC said on the night of April 8, she left C&B Bazar for Khulna in an autorickshaw after receiving news of her husband's sudden illness. When she reached Shyambagat in Fakirhat, the autorickshaw driver Mahmudul Hasan forcefully took her to a place nearby and raped her.
The accused has admitted to committing the crime during primary interrogation, he added.
