Several celebrities from Bangladesh’s entertainment industry have shared their reactions on social media following the arrest of actress Nusrat Faria.
Among them, actress Azmeri Haque Badhan also expressed her views in a Facebook post on Monday morning.
In her post, Badhan wrote:
“What a shame! This girl has nothing to do with what a fascist regime did to the people.”
She further added,
“I am deeply concerned about the situation and the system. We do not live in a country where fair play is common, but this is truly unacceptable.”
On Sunday (May 18), popular film actress Nusrat Faria was detained by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka while she was on her way to Thailand. She was later handed over to Vatara Police Station and subsequently taken to the Detective Branch office for questioning. She was shown arrested in connection with a case filed at Vatara Police Station.
On Monday (May 19), a Dhaka court rejected her bail plea and ordered her to be sent to jail. Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque gave the order around 10:30 AM after Faria was brought to the CMM Court`s custody cell and presented in court.
During the hearing, the investigating officer requested that Faria be kept in jail, while her lawyers appealed for her bail.
