In a 24-hour count till Monday morning, health authorities in Bangladesh reported 14,828 fresh infections.
With the latest development, the tally of Covid-19 cases in the country has reached 1,699,964.
This is the highest number of cases logged in daily count since 25 weeks.
According to government data, as many as 45,807 samples were tested across the country, for a daily positivity rate of 32.37 percent.
The capital Dhaka reported the highest figures in terms of both cases and fatalities - 10,165 and 6.
The tally of Covid-19 fatalities rose to 28,238 as 15 more patients died from COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8:00 am on Monday.
Meanwhile, another 998 people recovered from the infectious disease nationwide. With this the total number of recoveries reached 1,557,859.
The figures were reported between Sunday 8:00 am and Monday 8:00 am.
The latest Covid-19 situation in the country was revealed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its routine daily statement.
