BCL supremo Joy, deputy Lekhak injured in factional clash

Bangladesh Chhatra League President Al Nahian Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee have been injured after the duo interfered to disperse activists of Dhaka College and Jashimuddin Hall of Dhaka University units as they ocked into altercation, scuffle centering position.

The incident occurred at Aparajeyo Bangla area in the University of Dhaka on Tuesday while the associate body of the ruling Awami League was preparing for a procession.

Lekhak Bhattacharjee escaped the mayhem wearing a helmet. However, Joy sustained minor injury.

Witnesses said leaders and activists of Dhaka College unit took position beneath the Bottola area where a procession of Jashim Uddin hall unit also approached.

They locked into an altercation regarding possession of the place.

The BCL top brass went to the area to settle the dispute while the altercation turned into scuffle.

The agitated activists threw away brick chips, chairs, bamboos and batons at each other, leaving 10 people injured including Lekhak.    

The injured activists were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
