Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in several districts across country for ensuring enhanced security on the occasion of Durga Puja.
BGB has been deployed in 23 districts including Comilla, Narsingdi and Munshiganj, so far.
BGB Director (Operations) Lieutenant Colonel Faizur Rahman confirmed the matter to The Report via telephone on Thursday (October 14) afternoon.
“BGB has deployed required number of personnel, in response to the demands of the local district administration and on the instructions of the ministry of home affairs. BGB will assist the local administration as well as other law enforcement agencies. The total number of personnel to be deployed is changeable, as it still an on-going process”, said the official.
When asked if BGB will be deployed in the capital as well, he said “If there is a demand from the concerned authorities, BGB will be deployed in the capital as well, we are ready for that.”
BGB will be on ground till tomorrow, until the festival ends, added he.
