A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight bound for Dammam had to return to Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport shortly after take-off due to a technical issue.

The BG-349 flight, operated with a Boeing 777-ER aircraft, departed at 3:33 PM on Monday but returned safely at 4:33 PM after being airborne for about an hour.

According to Biman officials, the aircraft, which was nearly full with around 450 passengers, experienced a cabin pressure warning signal shortly after departure.

In the interest of safety, the pilot decided to return to Dhaka instead of continuing the journey.

Al Masud Khan, acting manager of Biman’s Public Relations Department, confirmed the incident, stating, “The pilot detected a cabin pressure warning and took no chances, deciding to bring the aircraft back to Dhaka.”

The passengers were later flown to Dammam on another aircraft, while engineers inspected the returned plane. After being declared fit for service, it was scheduled for another flight later in the night.

This incident comes just days after another Biman flight faced a similar technical issue. On July 24, BG-148, which had arrived in Chattogram from Dubai, encountered a problem with its landing gear door while heading to Dhaka.

Carrying 287 passengers, the aircraft had to return to Chattogram shortly after take-off and landed safely at Shah Amanat International Airport.
