Black out in entire country for 1 minute

Today is March 25, National Genocide Day. At the end of this day in 1971, a terrible night came in the life of the Bengali nation. The most brutal chapter in human history was written on this day. At midnight on this day in 1971, in the name of 'Operation Searchlight', barbaric Pakistani military forces attacked unarmed Bengalis across the country including the capital.

On March 25, Genocide Day, the nation will mourn a minute of darkness in remembrance of that dark night of 1971. A symbolic 'black-out' will be observed across the country from 10:30 to 10:31 PM on Saturday.

Various programs have been taken at the national level to observe the day with due dignity. Special circulars are published in newspapers.

On this day, at 9:30 in the morning, a discussion meeting was held on Genocide Day at the Liberation Museum auditorium. Apart from this, songs and cultural programs related to genocide and liberation war have been organized across the country.

Rare photographs and documentaries on the genocide will be circulated in the mini polls of all city corporations including Dhaka. On this day, special prayers will be held in all mosques of the country after Johar and prayers at convenient times in other religious places of worship to seek forgiveness for the souls of those killed on the night of March 25, 1971.
