BTV to launches international news program: Mohammad Ali Arafat
Bangladesh Television (BTV) is set to launch a dynamic international news analysis and presentation program spanning two hours, announced Mohammad Ali Arafat, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting.
Following a cordial meeting with Prannoy Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, at his Secretariat office on Thursday afternoon, the minister briefed journalists about the initiative. "The two-hour international program on BTV will feature news from various South Asian countries and around the globe," he explained.
Highlighting efforts to engage Indian viewers, Arafat mentioned discussions with the High Commissioner regarding collaborative opportunities with Indian news agencies, particularly ANI. Mutual cooperation in cinema and drama was also pledged during the discussions. "We explored areas of cooperation between Bangladesh and India across various sectors," he added.
Arafat outlined plans for collaboration with the Film and Television Institute of India, including exchange programs and joint film productions. Additionally, he emphasized the exchange of expertise on countering misinformation and disinformation between the two nations.
Speaking on the potential benefits of cooperation, Arafat noted, "Bangladesh stands to gain significantly from mutual collaboration, especially in the fields of cinema and television dramas. We aim to leverage India`s experience to enhance our capabilities in these domains."
Touching upon audience preferences, the state minister mentioned discussions on film exchanges between Bangladesh and India to cater to audience demand.
