The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), A M M Nisir Uddin, reassured the public that the Election Commission is not concerned with the contrasting views expressed by various political parties regarding the upcoming elections.

He emphasized that every party seeks a fair and legitimate election, which aligns with the desires of the people of Bangladesh.

Speaking at a discussion session in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday morning, organized in celebration of National Voter Day, the CEC addressed the media.

"The different statements from political parties are a reflection of democratic diversity. Even though their views may contradict each other, the Election Commission believes that they will eventually reach an agreement. All political parties want an election that is acceptable, and the 180 million people of Bangladesh also expect the same," he said.

In addition to this, the CEC highlighted the importance of ensuring that everyone gets the chance to vote at polling stations. He noted that public expectations for a fair election have risen significantly for the current Election Commission, and it is crucial to meet these expectations.

He added, "History has shown that while election results may appear to be secured through intimidation and violence, such victories are never sustainable. If all parties agreed to hold an election that is widely accepted, it would make the Commission‍‍`s task much easier."

Election Commission Secretary Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah also provided an update during the event. He shared that by June 30, the EC plans to publish a revised voter list after conducting a door-to-door survey.

This update will remove around 1.9 million deceased voters from the list.

In closing, EC Secretary Abdur Rahman Masud reaffirmed the Commission‍‍`s commitment to delivering a fair and acceptable election.

"The Election Commission aims to prove its commitment through actions, not just words," he stated. "We are determined to ensure that the upcoming election is both free and fair."
