Professor Aminul Islam, who has been serving as the Special Assistant (Education) to the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has officially resigned from his position.

He submitted his resignation to the Cabinet Secretary on Monday afternoon.

Around 2 PM on Monday, Professor Islam sent his resignation letter through his personal assistant to the office of the Cabinet Division Secretary.

Sources have confirmed that his resignation was in line with the request of the Interim Government.

Professor Islam had been appointed as Special Assistant at the rank of State Minister to assist the Chief Advisor in the Ministry of Education.

His resignation comes after a series of recent shifts within the government.

In November, the Interim Government’s Chief Advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, appointed three Special Assistants with the rank of State Minister.

These individuals were tasked with assisting the advisors in the Ministries of Home Affairs, Health, and Education.

Among them, Professor Aminul Islam was responsible for the Education Ministry.

Meanwhile, last week, Professor C.R. Abrar took an oath as the new advisor to the Ministry of Education.

He will now oversee education matters, while Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud, who was previously in charge of both Education and Planning Ministries, now exclusively handles the Ministry of Planning.

This change in leadership in the education sector comes at a time when the Interim Government is undergoing significant reshuffles.
