CHT Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan resigns

Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan has resigned from his post, saying ongoing health problems were making it difficult for him to carry out his responsibilities.

In a resignation letter sent to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Dipen said he had been suffering from several physical complications that were affecting his ability to perform his duties properly.

Prime Minister‍‍`s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman confirmed the development and shared a copy of the resignation letter with the media.
In the letter, Dipen said stepping down was necessary to ensure that the government‍‍`s development and administrative work continued smoothly.

"Due to my health condition, I am facing various difficulties in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to me," he wrote.

The Prime Minister later accepted his resignation, according to officials.

Dipen Dewan had been serving as the Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister in the government formed after the February 12 general election.
