Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a teacher of Begum Bodrunnesa College, assistant professor Ruma Sarker, for allegedly spreading rumours in social media by posting an old video.
She was arrested from her Baily Road residence in the capital on Wednesday (October 20).
Ruma was accused of posting a video on social media handles captioning it as the footage of Noakhali’s Jatan Saha killing while the video features a murder of Sahinuddin in capital’s Pallabi.
RAB media wing director Commander Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the matter to media.
He said, Ruma was taken to the Rab headquarters for interrogation. She spread misinformation in social media.”
The official was yet to confirm whether or not any case would be field but said steps would be taken later based on legal procedure.
