The condition of the 8-year-old girl who was brutally raped in Niznanduari village, Magura, has worsened significantly. As of Saturday, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Director Brigadier General Asaduzzaman reported that the child’s health is deteriorating, and she is now on life support.
In response to her worsening state, the hospital has formed a four-member medical board to oversee her treatment and make critical decisions regarding her care.
Brigadier General Asaduzzaman, speaking to reporters from his office at DMCH, said, “The child’s condition is deteriorating. She has been placed on a ventilator, and a four-member medical board has been established for her treatment.”
He further stated that doctors are not very optimistic about the child`s recovery, indicating the severity of her situation.
“The medical board will meet to decide on the next course of action,” he added.
The hospital has also confirmed that the child’s medical treatment will be provided free of charge, acknowledging the seriousness of the case and the public outcry surrounding it.
The young girl is currently receiving intensive care in DMCH’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Her condition has been critical since her arrival, and she was placed on life support at 9:30 PM on Friday night.
She was initially brought to DMCH late Thursday night in a critical state after being transferred from Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
The horrific incident took place earlier in the week. According to the victim’s uncle, his niece was a third-grader at a local school.
On Saturday, she had gone to visit her sister’s home in Niznanduari village, Magura, from their family home in Sreepur.
On Thursday morning, her elder sister’s father-in-law, Hitu Mia, lured her into a room and raped her.
The girl’s health quickly deteriorated, and she was rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital.
As her condition worsened, she was transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and then finally to DMCH.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested two suspects—Md. Sajib Sheikh, the victim’s brother-in-law (18), and his father, Hitu Mia—following the attack.
Magura’s Additional Superintendent of Police, Mirajul Islam, said on Friday that although the family has not yet filed an official complaint, law enforcement acted swiftly to arrest the accused, ensuring that justice is pursued in this heinous crime.
The community and the nation are closely following this tragic incident, hoping for the child`s recovery and for the perpetrators to face the full extent of the law.
