After a long standoff with the government, bus owners have finally agreed to cut fares by half for students travelling on buses in Dhaka city.
Khandaker Enayet Ullah, general secretary of the Dhaka Road Transport Owners' Association, made the announcement in a briefing Tuesday (November 30).
The new fare will be effective from Wednesday only in Dhaka city.
Students will be charged half fares from 7am to 8pm every day, excluding weekends and public holidays in educational institutions.
Students will have to produce their ID cards provided by educational institutions to avail of the facility.
