The fatality rate in the country increased once again. As many as 38 people have died in 24 hours starting from 8am Monday to 8 am Tuesday registering the highest Covid toll in 20 weeks.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data shows, the casualties rate increased by 61 percent in last week. A total of 226 people died in coronavirus infection from 31 January to 6 February. The number of casualties was 140 in previous year.
Of the deceased from 31 January to 6 February, 161 people were not vaccinated while 65 were vaccinated. Among them, 25 received the first dose while 40 people got the second shot. None took the booster shot.
The risk of death is high to the patients attacked by long-term disease including diabetes, cardio vascular disease, high blood pressure and lung infection. Among the people died in last week, 52 per cent have comorbidity disease apart from coronavirus infection. Out of them, the death rate is high among the patients affected by diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease.
Of the dead last week, 69 percent are aged above 60. The number of casualties have been remaining above 30 for several days. On Monday, the DGHS reported 38 fatalities. Among them, 28 were men and 10 women.
