The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has issued four directions to help farmers minimize the damage to crops from Cyclone Mocha.
According to a DAE press release yesterday, the well-marked low over the Bay of Bengal has gathered force and developed into a depression, and it could become a cyclone by May 12 or 13.
The cyclone might cause damage to crops, said the press release.
The DAE instructed farmers to harvest 80 percent of ripe paddy, mature mango, and other crops to avoid damage.
It also asked the authorities to take measures for a massive field campaign to inform farmers about the cyclone warning; to be with the farmers to advise them through staying at work during the cyclone; and to follow the BAMIS portal (www.bamis.gov.bd) for any weather information and advice.
