Following the fall of Sheikh Hasina`s government, authorities have announced the closure of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for six hours, starting from 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
This information was circulated by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a notification.
Earlier on Monday afternoon, Sheikh Hasina resigned from her position and left the country.
In the wake of her departure, subsequently, the army took over the responsibility and started discussion with the stakeholders to solve the political crisis.
At around 3:50pm, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman addressed the situation after holding an emergency meeting at the Cantonment in the capital.
He announced that an interim government would be established to manage the country and assured the public of their safety.
He urged citizens to remain calm and assured them that all their demands would be addressed.
