Interim government: Distribution of ministries among advisers

Dr. Muhammad Yunus sworn in as the chief advisor to the interim government yesterday (August 8) along with his 16 advisers. In terms of distributing ministries and divisions he kept 27 offices including 25 ministries and two divisions. These are:

  8. Farida Akhtar: Women‍‍`s rights activist gets Fisheries and Livestock Ministry.
  9. Adilur Rahman Khan: Founder of Odhikar gets Ministry Industries. 
  10. AFM Khalid Hossain: Nayeb-e-Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam and Adviser of Islami Andolan Bangladesh gets Ministry of Religious Affairs.
  11. Sharmeen Murshid: Chief Executive Officer at "Brotee," an organisation that monitors elections gets Social Welfare Ministry.

A gazette notification was published in this regard today from cabinet division signed by Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain.

There had been virtually no government in the country for three days after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 in the face of the student movement. 

The interim government was formed on Thursday night under the leadership Nobel peace laureate of Dr Muhammad Yunus with 14 of them out of 17-member interim government were sworn in. 

Bidhan Ranjan Roy, Farooqi Azam and Suprodip Chakma could not take the oath as they were outside of the capital Dhaka.
