DMP bans rallies and gatherings at nine key locations in Dhaka

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all types of rallies, processions, demonstrations, and gatherings at nine important locations in the capital, including areas surrounding the Chief Justice’s official residence and the Supreme Court.

The order, signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, was issued on Thursday, May 15, citing the need to maintain public order in light of recent developments.

The ban has been imposed under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III of 1976) and will remain in effect until further notice.

The restricted areas include:

-Chief Justice’s official residence

-Judges’ residences

-Judges’ Complex

-Main gate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court

-Supreme Court Mazar gate

-Jame Masjid gate

-Entrances to the International Crimes Tribunal 1 & 2

-Front of the Judicial Administration Training Institute

 

The DMP also urged the public to refrain from blocking roads or disrupting traffic under the pretext of protests or demands.

Earlier, on May 10, similar restrictions were imposed around the Bangladesh Secretariat and the Chief Adviser’s official residence, Jamuna.
