DMP files 1,597 cases for traffic violations in Dhaka

The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 1,597 cases against motor vehicles and drivers for violating traffic rules in the capital over the past day.

According to a statement from the DMP Media and Public Relations Division, the police have been conducting campaigns to bring the traffic system under proper management. The statement was issued by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

During the campaign on November 18, 267 motor vehicles were impounded and 139 vehicles were immobilized. Several traffic divisions carried out the operations across the city.

The division-wise cases included: Motijheel Traffic Division – 336 cases, Wari Division – 155, Tejgaon Division – 168, Mirpur Division – 105, Gulshan Division – 260, Uttara Division – 277, Ramna Division – 119, and Lalbagh Division – 177 cases against motor vehicles, three-wheelers, and motorcycles.

The DMP added that the drive will continue to ensure discipline on Dhaka’s streets.
