DMP warns of legal action against Hizb ut-Tahrir for holding gatherings or campaigns

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a warning, stating that if the banned group Hizb ut-Tahrir holds any meetings, gatherings, or engages in any form of campaign, they will face legal action.

In an official press release, the DMP reminded the public that Hizb ut-Tahrir is classified as an illegal organization under Bangladeshi law.

The government officially banned the group on October 22, 2009, citing concerns about threats to public safety.

According to the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2009, any activity by a banned group—such as holding meetings, organizing rallies, distributing posters or leaflets, or any other form of promotion—constitutes a criminal offense.

As a result, the police will take necessary legal measures if any such activities are carried out by Hizb ut-Tahrir or any other banned organizations.

The DMP made it clear that any attempt to organize such gatherings will not be tolerated, and the law will take its course.
