Dream of a changed Bangladesh has been shattered: Badhon

Popular Bangladeshi actress Azmeri Haque Badhon shared her candid reflections on the country‍‍`s politics, social movements, and public expectations, offering a grounded perspective on the current state of Bangladesh.

In a recent interview while responding to questions from journalists, Badhon said, "The dream that Bangladesh would truly change — that dream has been shattered for everyone."

Referring to the participants of the recent July movement, she explained, "Those who joined the movement had an incredible dream — that maybe Bangladesh was about to change. That dream has definitely been broken for all of us because this is not an easy task."

Badhon pointed out that real transformation is challenging because "the entire system is deeply corrupted."

She emphasized that fixing the system and creating space for good work will take considerable time. "We don‍‍`t have the patience to give it that time, and our expectations are very high — and this is where our frustration begins."

Despite her honest remarks about widespread disillusionment, Badhon also spoke of her enduring hope. "I still want to say — I dream of a Bangladesh where there is equality. A Bangladesh where every human being, regardless of gender, religion, race, or ethnicity, can live with rights, dignity, and full citizenship."

As an actress, Badhon remains committed not only to portraying meaningful stories on screen but also to engaging with the realities of society.

Her voice reflects a growing consciousness among artists who seek not just creative expression but also meaningful change.
